FIDA The Design School

1. Admission

  1. Admission is subject to eligibility clearance from Medhavi Skills University / NIF Global Chennai / FIDA The Design School for the respective course.
  2. Admission will be cancelled in the following cases:
  • Non-submission of required documents on time
  • Submission of fake or incorrect documents
  • Failure to fulfill the required eligibility criteria for the respective course
  1. All required documents must be submitted at the time of admission.

2. Academic Rules

  1. Every student must attend at least 80% of the total number of classes conducted by faculty. Students with less than 80% attendance will not be eligible to appear for the examination and a penalty fee will be levied.
  2. Students are expected to attend classes punctually as per the time slots provided. Late comers will not be entertained.
  3. Students are expected to be in their seat at the commencement of every lecture.
  4. Classes once missed by the student will not be repeated.
  5. All Internal Exams are compulsory. No leave or excuses will be accepted. Internal Assessment constitutes 40% of the final marks.
  6. All written exams are compulsory. Class test marks are included in the Internal Assessment.
  7. All project submissions must be done on time; failing which marks will not be awarded.
  8. Students who do not submit assignments on time will be given negative marking, which impacts internal assessment.
  9. Stipulated attendance, completion of assignments, and passing internal assessments are mandatory to appear for the final examination.
  10. Examination fees will be collected before the exams.
  11. All workshops and seminars must be attended compulsorily.
  12. Educational trips and site visits are compulsory for UG and PG students. Students who do not participate will be liable to pay a fine.
  13. Students should bring their own stationeries, materials, and tools for classes.
  14. Class schedules are available on the Edu Cloud software.

3. Attendance and Leave

  1. For absence exceeding 3 consecutive days, students must produce a medical certificate and relevant supporting documents.
  2. Personal leave requires prior permission from the head of institution. Email requests must be sent to admin@nifglobalchennai.com.
  3. If a student is absent for three consecutive sessions, parents are required to send an e-mail/SMS with reasons for absenteeism to the institution.
  4. If the absence exceeds one month, the student may be considered a dropout at the discretion of the head of institution.
  5. Students must punch biometric attendance without fail.

4. Fees

  1. Tuition fees must be rolled over by the 5th of March every year.
  2. Monthly fees must be paid on or before the 5th of every month. A late fee of Rs. 50/- per day will be charged from the 6th onwards.
  3. Fees paid cannot be refunded or transferred to any other student under any circumstances.
  4. Transfer to other NIF Global centers for the next academic year must be informed between 1st and 10th February of the current year.

5. Disciplinary Rules

  1. Anyone found indulging in ragging of any form within or outside the campus shall be instantly expelled (Ref: The Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997).
  2. The behavior of students at all times, within or outside campus, must reflect responsibility and integrity.
  3. Students must dress modestly and maintain personal hygiene at all times.
  4. Students must show due regard for the rights and properties of the institution. Tampering with or damaging institute property will result in punishment and possible expulsion.
  5. Smoking and consuming tobacco products is strictly prohibited on campus.
  6. Misbehavior with faculty, staff, or fellow students will be severely punished. The severity of punishment depends on the nature of the offence.
  7. Ragging, consuming alcohol, smoking, or any toxic drug in and around campus is strictly prohibited. Management has the right to take severe action on such students.
  8. Prior appointment is mandatory to meet any higher authority of the institution.

6. Placements

  1. UG/PG/Diploma students are eligible for placement support.
  2. 80% attendance is compulsory to be eligible for placement.
  3. Students who have showcased work in fashion weeks and design exhibitions will be given top priority during placements.
  4. Students must have a minimum of 5 participations in external competitions or events.
  5. Compulsory internship applies for B.Des, B.Voc, M.Des, and M.Voc final year students. The internship letter must be submitted after completion; failing which, students will not be eligible to write the semester exam.
  6. Proper resume and portfolio must be submitted by end of February for placements.
  7. Every student will be given an opportunity to attend up to 5 interviews based on the IRD Program.
  8. Students who have received offer letters will not be eligible to attend further interviews with other companies.
  9. Placed students cannot back out from a given offer. They must serve the company for a minimum of 1 year.
  10. Students who wish to develop entrepreneurial skills can register in the Entrepreneur Development Cell (minimum 2 years of study at NIF Global/FIDA required).

7. Knowledge Sharing and Activities

  1. Every student should be a member of at least one of the following teams: Fashion Show Team, Event Management Team, Outdoor Learning Team, or Implementation Team.
  2. Students are expected to actively participate in displaying their works in fashion weeks and design exhibitions.
  3. Library books can be borrowed and used within the campus only. Students must bear the cost of any damage caused.

8. General Rules

  1. Management is not responsible for any loss of students’ property. Students are responsible for their own belongings.
  2. On industrial visits, students must carry minimum belongings, cash, and jewelry. Management is not responsible for loss or theft.
  3. Every student shall wear clean, decent dress. Personal hygiene must be maintained.
  4. Eatables are not allowed inside classrooms.
  5. Classrooms must not be left untidy. Littering of the campus will be penalized.
  6. Students are expected to leave the classroom once their class is over.
  7. Students wishing to receive a Bonafide Certificate must apply to admin@nifglobalchennai.com with the prescribed form and fee. Processing takes 10 working days.
  8. No personal rapport should be established between staff and students. Staff must communicate any opportunity for students through the Management only.
  9. Leave a message with the front office for any communication with faculty. Do not disturb faculty during non-working hours.
  10. Parking is not provided by the institution.
  11. Parents are advised to keep in touch with the institution periodically to monitor their ward’s progress and attendance.

9. Grievances

Any grievances or issues must be addressed either in person or via email to admin@nifglobalchennai.com, or to the Grievance Redressal Committee only — not to any individual faculty member.

10. Disclaimer

The management reserves the right to make changes to these rules and regulations, fee structure, and policies based on changes in Government guidelines or Corporate Partner agreements. The management’s decision shall be final in all matters.

Students are bound by all rules and regulations made by the institute from time to time. Any matter not expressly provided for in these rules shall rest at the absolute discretion of the concerned authority.

All disputes pertaining to admissions, examinations, and conduct of the institute shall fall within the jurisdiction of Chennai, Tamil Nadu State only.
